Ive decided to check out and look at some promotion posters to see their goals and what messages THEY communicate through design.
I like the poster to this song. The simple graphic with a rollercoaster along it really symbolises what they are trying to say. I like how the DNA strands act like the climbs on rides too. The colour choice is very bland here, but I think simple black and white is best.
Above here is promoting weather staying in or going out is the best for your night. The way the poster is split in half is very clever as this creates a diverse way of a feeling of confrontation. The appearance of boxing gloves and the red classic gloves with the red banner represents the classic 'ding ding' style of a boxing match.
The above poster is of some glasses with Manhattan skyline within the lenses. Again, the dull colour with black makes a statement within this poster. The onlooking of the glasses over the city with the black city back drop makes the city very admirable. Something to bring to my designs maybe is simple is best and less is more?
The above poster made me laugh and I think is very true. Hardcore metal fans.
I love the typefaces used in this. the word 'Boxing' is seen first apart from the photo of the boxers in red however, this is a promotion poster for the match. A colour palette has been used also.
Again heres poster has been split in imagery to divide different sides and thoughts of stress and relief. The colours show stress and relief as showed.
A poster advertising San Miguel. They have simple block colours and the white text has been enlarged and slightly knocked off straight angles to create an effect. Even though this gets your attention, I still like the fact that less is more to more. I like the free space around text and think that creates a greater impact than larger text.
I like the visuals of this poster representing summer with the chilled beer drops and the summery items coming out the side. The beer during across the bottom of the page acts like a beach and is not first noticeable but I love this idea.
Another poster in this two colours. The lines represent the highways and the following arrows of the direction. Also, maybe the barrier represents a block but I am familiar with ac dc and highway to hell.
Above here is a poster for an electronic music festival as it seems. The heavy digital art work represents this perhaps followed by the text however, I think this is too cluttered and by the time people look at it, it wither hurts your eyes or you've given up.
From these promo posters I have seen that empty space has a difference in what your main attraction is. I have seen that just black and white is as powerful as many colours however if I apply this to my designs it wouldn't work as I am focusing on colour as my main theory and theme.
